Roll of the dice

Well you win some and others.... As per Creamboy's instructions I have turned my life (partially) over to the roll of the dice. Today as I was pondering about vegans and their dire lack of B12 I took a gamble and now I am locked into a vegan experiment.

I will become a temporary vegan for two weeks commencing Saturday the 1st of September. What I need is a volunteer to make me a meal/shopping plan because I am a spaz an example of this is last night I was exhausted and after I fed the cat I ate three spoonfuls of nutella out of the jar and declared that dinner. So Creamboy and his rampant vegans I'm looking to you for clear ideas on what the hell to eat for two weeks otherwise it'll be toast, sorbet and coffee. Now if you'll excuse me I'm going back to my roast beef sandwich.

Hey Dale, your two-week menu plan ma'am;
http://www.vegcooking.com/pdfs/2wkmenu300.pdf

and in case you're worried about B12
http://www.vrg.org/nutrition/b12.htm
The menu plan is pretty full-on and wouldn't be one that I'd follow to the letter. But it has some great recipes and ideas. Just in case you think I spend my entire life cooking, I usually have tea and toast for Brekkie (lots of variations on 'toast' though,-beans, vegemite, blackberry jam, avocado, peanut butter, fresh tomato and herbs etc)
Lunch (if I remember), a wrap or sandwich with lots of salad and seitan, baked bean jaffles, or 2 or 3 pieces of fruit
Dinner: Curry, stir-fry, fried rice, tofu kebabs, seitan (soooo many things to do with that!), gado gado, noodles, spag bol (with TVP), stroganoff (with tofu), casserole, and the very necessary glass of chardonnay:-)
If you are worried about B12 you might want to take a supplement, although most meat-eaters have enough stored to last them 3-4 years. I don't take tablets, I use nutritional yeast quite a bit and fortified soy milks and cereals. Up to you I guess:-) Good luck, and don't forget to visit my blog or any of the vege links listed to find thousands of yummy vege recipes.

Oh, heaven help me. I've had to suffer with reading another blog where someone decided to go vegan. It turned from an interesting, fun blog to a boring, preachy pseudo-religious blog. And by religion, I mean the "vegan" religion.

Stay strong. Eat a Cheesesteak.

You're welcome. And BTW, the 'TV' comment wasn't meant to sound as if it was directed at you. That was bad sentence construction on my part. More directed at any idiot that believes what A Current Affair or MLA Sam Neill ads portray as 'Gospel'. Apologies for any misunderstanding there. (I went from personal to general too quickly and without being specific,-my bad)

No problems there Cath, it hadn't even occurred to me that it could be construed that way until you pointed it out. I really should watch more telly though I am in danger of missing having an alternate zeitgeist.

No possibility of that. Have tried. Nothing forthcoming.
Quite astonished that I'm so pleased you're not mad (at me).
The world is fulla wunders....

Watch out Dale!
Famous (or infamous) No-Meat-Eaters include one Mr Adolf Hitler. His opinions on human welfare were a bit questionable, but he did love animals (and not in the eating them kind of way). If you get any urges to invade Poland, eat a steak quick!
Good luck with it, come up for some frijole during the two weeks (we'll donate some to you as well), and to celebrate afterwards we'll take you to Ribs and Rumps in Manly. Or the Lowenbrau...

Gengis Khan, Pol Pot and Saddam Hussein were meat eaters. And Hitler was only a vegetarian as long as you consider ham, wurst, pheasant and liver dumplings vegetables.

Not true, sorry. Pol Pot was a vegan. Don't know about the other two, but who the hell cares? Bobby Fisher was a raving anti-semite but no one stops playing chess in case of negative association.

NWJR: What is a cheesesteak?

Anon: Is the same Anon from the post about the painting? This is driving me nuts. I appoint this Anon "Dr Yow" please use this name from now on or I am going to go crazy crazy.

Ron & Rita: Let's definitely go to dinner after the two weeks is up.

Cath: Isn't Bobby Fischer spelt with a scher?

Prolly:-) Actually,-yep.

Einstein was also a vegetarian.

Pol Pot was a vegan?! Ha... what's the point of killing millions of people if you ain't gonna eat 'em?
